Exercise #57: Excuses

I know it's been a few months since I regularly updated the blog, but hey, at least I changed the layout to be more eye-friendly! I've also reached out to people (on Facebook) for writing they'd like to publish that fits with the theme here, so, exercises, prompts, processes, experiments etc. I'd like to extend that invitation to all of you readers (the two or three out there) and encourage you to submit poetry to be published on this blog. All writings need to fit within the theme, and must include your name, location, and a brief writeup on the piece(s). Email submissions to voidwhere@gmail.com.

Speaking of prompts, for those of you who are unaware, it happens to be National Poetry Writing Month, or NaPoWriMo. They are supplying folks with a fresh prompt every day! How awesome is that? I think after today I'll start following them. I don't have the time tonight...

I know, I know, excuses excuses. Coincidentally, when I generated a number to select today's exercise, it gave me Charls Bernstein's prompt:

57. Excuses list: Write a poem made up entirely of excuses.

So without further ado, I present to you my poem/list of excuses for not writing for my blog. I encourage you to try it. Hopefully you'll become as cripplingly depressed as I did...
------------------------

Excuses for not writing for my blog:
haven't had enough time.
feel overwhelmed with writing.
tired.
got sick.
Writing exercises can be hard.
got bored with writing.
No one reads my writing.
No one cares about my writing.
No one reads my blog.
My hand hurts when write or type.
My internet broke.
My computer broke.
My typewriter broke.
used all my pens and paper.
don't have enough money to buy new pens and paper.
work too much.
been spending my time socializing instead.
been catching up on lost sleep.
can't figure out what want to do with my life.
My grandfather died and haven't been able to write since.
have too much yard maintenance.
been away from home.
been living on the street.
can't remember how to write.
Every time write spontaneously combust.
My dog pissed on my computer.
can’t remember my password.
feel like doing other stuff most of the time.
forgot.
Flood ruined my house, including my computer and all the paper; couldn’t afford to fix anything because all the money went to feeding myself and staying in a hotel.

If it wasn't clear earlier, I WANT YOU TO SUBMIT YOUR OWN WRITING TO BE PUBLISHED HERE! I feel all alone, and I want your company. These writings can be original exercises and restrictions, classic limitations, prompts, or experiments, but, please keep to the theme. Submit to voidwhere@gmail.com. Thanks!

Until next time, keep making excuses.
